Carnival of Souls
Leon Radojkovic’s Live Live Cinema has breathed new life into a film from the sound era – Herk Harvey’s 1962 classic Carnival of Souls.
Live Live Cinema: Carnival of Souls deploys musicians, actors, and a lone courageous foley artist to create an immersive audio/visual environment. It is an integrated conversation between cinema, theatre, music and sound design, and ultimately a unique and vibrant “live live” cinematic experience.
Carnival of Souls (1962), the first and last feature by Kansas-based industrial film-makers Herk Harvey and John Clifford, is a deeply atmospheric and beautifully shot “horror” film, which recounts Mary Henry’s (Candance Hilligoss) descent down the rabbit-hole following her improbable survival of a car wreck. Blurring levels of reality and existence, the film explores the dark underbelly of small-town life, and creates a world where the familiar and everyday becomes alien and threatening.

GÄNSEHAUT PUR – Unter der Regie von Oliver Driver wird der Horrorfilm, der komplett stumm geschaltet wird, parallel auf der Leinwand gezeigt und alle Dialoge, die Filmmusik und die Geräusche werden live auf der Bühne produziert. Erleben Sie eine einzigartige Hybrid-Form aus Kino, Theater und Musik.
Das Stück erzählt die Horrorgeschichte von Mary Henry, die wie durch ein Wunder einen tragischen Autounfall überlebt. Danach ist jedoch nichts mehr wie früher im Leben der attraktiven Musikerin. Sie wird von Untoten heimgesucht und ihre Umwelt wird für sie zunehmend bedrohlicher. Die Menschen in ihrer Umgebung scheinen sie genauestens zu beobachten: Wer ist der Mann, der sie ständig verfolgt und sie nachts heimsucht? Warum späht ihr unheimlicher Nachbar in ihr Schlafzimmer? Und vor allem: wann wird dieser Albtraum enden.
